With close to 20 cm of snowfall falling across southern Ontario Wednesday into Thursday, a number of schools and municipal entities have or will be issuing closure and cancellation notices as the day progresses.
Only the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board has opted to close schools and cancel its school bus service as of Thursday morning.
So far, it’s the only one of eight boards in and around the Hamilton-Niagara-Halton-Brant-Haldimand regions to do so.
Here is the operational status of some city services and schools across southern Ontario as of 7 a.m. Thursday.
Hamilton
Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board: Schools are closed on Thursday due to Hamilton Wentworth Student Transportation cancelling all buses.

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board: Student transportation is cancelled, but schools and administration offices are open Thursday. Secondary exams are cancelled and exams have been moved forward by one day.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Hamilton: With school buses not operating, the organization altered it’s programs for Thursday. It closed childcare and Early On at Ellis and in all schools. All before and after school and Let’s Get Moving programs were also nixed for Thursday.
YMCA Hamilton/Brantford: YMCA Child Care Centres located within #HamOnt school are closed today – this includes Queen Victoria, Sir William Osler, Spring Valley & Chedoke.
YWCA Child Care Centres: All child care programs located in HWDSB schools are Closed. The YWCA Hamilton Downtown Child Care Centre, St. John’s Before/After School Program, and Dunnville locations are open.
City of Hamilton: All City of Hamilton facilities are open today. Recreation programming scheduled at school locations are cancelled due to school board closures. Senior centre programming at select locations are also cancelled today.
HSR is running on its normal schedule.
Waste collection crews will be out Thursday but may experience minor delays.
Providence Christian School: Closed for Thursday.
Halton Region
Halton District School Board: All schools are open on Thursday, but buses are cancelled in all zones.
Halton Catholic District School Board: All schools are open on Thursday, but buses are cancelled.

City of Burlington: All facilities will be open Thursday. All on-street parking has been suspended until further notice to allow for plowing.

Niagara Catholic District School Board: Schools are open and transportation will be running across Niagara region on Thursday with some delays in service.
